Good enough to eat in

Conran Contracts are our furniture and interiors supply team. Working with some of the best-regarded architects and interior designers worldwide, they fit restaurants, bars, clubs, retail spaces, offices and residences.

Four of their recent projects have been shortlisted for this year’s Restaurant & Bar Design Awards. We asked Contracts’ Max Pilbeam and Nick Shute to tell us a bit more.

We’re delighted that four projects we’ve worked on are nominated for the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards. Our role in these projects as business-to-business design specialists varies from comprehensive consulting to a furniture procurement service, calling upon our wide range of supplier relationships in the industry.

Rocksalt

The dramatic view from Rocksalt

For RockSalt we worked with Guy Holloway Architects in Kent help source all their furniture & lighting needs.  We chose items that fitted the design brief of supplying quality, durable, design led classics that complemented the unique charm of the surroundings and the bold positioning of the restaurant in the fishing harbor.

Viet Hoa Mess has a brutalist industrial feel

Viet Hoa Mess has a brutalist industrial feel

For Viet Hoa Mess we worked with Vonsung on their stunning new restaurant concept. The brief was minimal, simple and efficient. A marriage of gothic and classical that plays on the contrasts of natural materials and impressions: stone, concrete and metal to wonderful effect. Highly industrial pieces were chosen to reflect the minimal theme and to add to the reflection of the space.

Byron Haymarket

Not your average burger joint

For Byron Haymarket we continued our close relationship with Architects MBA who strive to ensure that every location is uniquely different from the last. With a distinctive concept in mind each project creates environments not normally seen on the high street. For Haymarket the scheme in mind was London Transport with the centerpiece being a suspended neon art installation that is a reverse of the Underground map. Our jobs were to source chairs in keeping with the interior and design robust tables using our network of bespoke furniture manufacturers.

Jamie's Cheltenham

Our steel stools at Jamie’s

For Jamie’s Italian Cheltenham we assisted Stiff + Trevillion with their procurement needs for the restaurant. Located in the Grade II listed Magistrates Court in Cheltenham which had been disused for many years it proved to be a challenge to convert. We provided industrial strength steel café furniture, the perfect product for use in high traffic environments and a  favourite of Jamie’s that are used in all the restaurants.

Congratulations to the Contracts team. You can see more photos of the project on our Facebook page.

The Awards are judged at the start of September, so we’ll report back then.
